A European adventure starts for the Upper Secondary School of Nea Artaki

The Upper Secondary School of Nea Artaki, for the first time, takes part in the European educational Programme COMENIUS, funded by the E.U. via the European Committee. The Headmaster’s and the professors’ will to upgrade the education provided, to minimize possible phenomena of introversion, to help students acquire new skills, to improve their knowledge of a foreign language as well as to motivate their interest for school and learning, resulted in the school’s decision to apply, as a coordinator, for the realisation of a two-year Comenius programme. During the programme we cooperate with 7 schools from 6 different countries; Finland, Germany, France, Romania, Italy (2 schools) and Spain.

The school project Learning through Living Comenius –as it is officially called- that takes place in the Upper Secondary School of Nea Artaki, under the auspices and control of the European Committee – concerns school and professional orientation in the framework of European Union. As part of this programme, the school hosted 22 professors from the schools that take place in the project. The professors stayed in our country for 7 days during which they collaborated with professors from Evoia in order to set the foundations for the two-year cooperation. Furthermore, they got acquainted with the beauties of our country.

In order for the school to offer the best possible hospitality to its guests, the Municipality of Nea Artaki contributed to that end. The Mayor of the city, Mr. Pratsolis Anastasios, officially welcomed and met the European professors at the City Hall and held a dinner to honor them. Professors from the Upper Secondary School of Nea Artaki took part in the dinner, while its students presented Greek folk dances with the guidance of the dance teacher of DEPANA Mr. Giannakara Thodori.

Furthermore, the companies of ‘Kelaiditis S.A.’ and ‘Mazarakis ABEE & Kelaiditis L.t.d.’ contributed to the school’s organisation of the European partners’ hospitality.

The next step is the realisation of the activities of the Programme by the students, as well as the visits of professors and students to the schools of France, Germany, Italy and Finland during the two years of the school project.

A European ‘adventure’ starts for the Upper Secondary School of Nea Artaki with a lot of possibilities and excitements for both its students and professors.
